I started diving originally way back in 1986, but, due to the nature and quality of the training, lost interest!!
I started again in 1997 with a superb centre, and since then, I've worked with several dive centers both in the UK and overseas. I'm passionate about the Underwater environment and I'm always happiest when I'm underwater.
A1 Divers came about due to a need for quality tuition for children. Nowhere else seemed to have correct sized equipment for children, it was always XS adult sized gear, which never fitted correctly, and adult sized regulators, which are just too big and heavy for your average 10-12yr old.
I've found over the last few years that working with children poses a far greater challenge than working with adults, but the rewards are much greater (and it brings out the 'big kid' in me as well
.) Children are much more fun to teach, and readily accept breathing underwater. They don't have the same level of fear as an adult so I'm definitely kept on my toes whilst teaching!!
I don't have a mission statement but if I did, it would be something like teach people to dive in a fun and easy manner and never qualify anyone I wouldn't be happy to dive with myself.(wow - that sounded serious!)
I've been a member of PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) for over 12yrs now and I'm proud of the fact that I'm part of the worlds biggest and best known diving organization.

We haven't learned to dive yet, but we can swim so don't be surprised if we come out and sit on your head when you come up from your dive!! We're nearly 5 now, but we're still just as cute
Next time you see us, bring us a treat and we will be your friends for life
